After several years of waiting for ERS to do its recording,
it finally paid off.
I turned on the computer one morning and got the message
that Windows couldn't load. After much fussing, I reloaded the
Registry from ERS and got the message on restart that lmouse.drv
was faulty. I found that lmouse.drv was missing and that ERS had
saved it in one of the system folders. Voilla, I was back in
operation. The alternative of format and reload was too horrible
to think about.
At any rate, I am a great fan of ERS and am telling everyone
that they must have ERS.

Well tonight I uninstalled Gozilla 4.11 and it asked for a reboot. Upon
the reboot I got a black screen that said something about non-system
disk or invalid system disk etc. This is under WinME Ted....so I used
the ERS9x boot floppy did a Day1 restore and now I am back Ted!!

A friend of mine said "use GoBack, it's great". Well, to make a long story short, I had GoBack on my machine for about a year. When I installed a program, or burnt a cd, I would have to wait 3 or 4 minutes while GoBack did it's thing. Now for the kicker. My system started locking up and acting screwy. I had GoBack set to backup about 7 days worth of data, or about 4 gig. of my
hard drive space. So after about a year I finally needed it. To my surprise, GoBack only had the days saved from when the computer started acting funny (about 2 days back). Needless to say GoBack was totally useless. I am back and I am here to stay. ERS has saved my bacon 5 or 6 times and has never failed me. I am not trying to blow smoke up your ass, you have an excellent product and I tell everyone I know about it.

How many times have you had a program which you had just installed cause your Windows system to bitch on you? Have you ever had your sound setup go haywire due to a new program that you installed? Dear Ted,
You’ve saved me again! This time it was in Win Me and after doing my
defragmentation, I backed up my HD using ‘Drive Image 4’.
That went as planned, but when I came to restarting Windows, the tune signaling the start of windows sounded and there was no further activity, even the HD light was out. Several times, I tried to get Windows to start – but to no avail.
Your program, Win 9X brilliantly came to my rescue. I thought there was something wrong with the Start-up software, so I typed in ‘Renstart’ – but that didn’t work. Next I went to ‘Day1’ – and it worked!!
I’m religious about running Win 9X daily – in fact, I have it in my ‘Start-Up’ folder.
I’m most grateful to you and your programming skills.

I feel obligated to report ERS "Butt Savers" here is another for you. :-)
The Desktop was running fine and numerous boots worked fine. This morning that
junkyard dog called Windows bit me. Even on a few warm boots it kept saying
Explorer failed and would not run. Think the error was in "Wmiexe.exe."
You know how these things go, the blame could always be on the last things
done, which was the new monitor driver and changing the system.ini
"PagingFile=D:\win386.swp" even though it should have nothing to do with it.
That brought ERS into play and a restore of the System files. It cured the
problem so who knows what happened, except maybe a file got corrupted.

their computers? Without a doubt, it is Emergency Rescue System. This
program has saved my butt countless numbers of times after a new program had

would like to urge all to get it and use it. There will come a day when it
will save you from a lot of grief and frustration.

Theodore, I just downloaded the latest ERS release, and I wanted to say a
few things to you.
I have been using ERS for a very long time, right from the beginning, long
before I registered it. You can't imagine how many times it has saved my
computer system for me. I suspect a hundred times would not be an
unreasonable number. I have worked with many software developers over the
years to test and modify new programs, and not often, but every now and
again, a program will totally trash my system. Also, I am forever tweaking
and trying new things in my system, and I sometimes trash it myself. Only
one time have I not been able to save my system with ERS, and that was
totally my fault. I had not made an ERS boot disk and paid a big price for
my stupidity for not doing so, because I couldn't boot up at all. I would
have been easily able to boot to ERS if I had only made that boot disk. It
was a learning experience.
I just wanted to thank you for your work in developing this program. Anyone
who uses a computer and has any knowledge of computers is crazy if they
don't have it on their system. I have sold quite a number of programs for
you over the years due to my advising people to install it. I am the
technical coordinator for my school, and have close to 500 computers on the
system to take care of now, so I do have a lot of influence in some circles.
I wanted to use ERS on our system, and get a site license some time back,
but was not successful in getting it cleared with my administration, or it
would be there now. We now clone any computers that get trashed to start
them off fresh, but that wipes out any data that the teacher has on the
drive in the process, and believe it or not, they often don't have backups
so they loose all their grades, etc.. I still think that ERS is a better
option.

dumbed-down. I had saved the cab files, but it wouldn't let me use
older, working ones, and MS couldn't help me.

after checking out ERS from a German computer monthly, I've got
positive experience with ERS on my corrupted system, because
of USB installation failures.
It's the first time a shareware holds its promises.

Norton Anti-Virus 2000 "Rescue discs don't work on this PC. (Possibly they
would if I had a zip drive, but their "Rescue" disc doesn't work in the floppy drive).

I bought ERS this year by a download over the net. I used to use winrescue
which didn't work good. I am pleased with this program. It is extremely
sophisticated. I am so pleased that I want to buy a copy for my son.
For myself, I have had absolutely no problem with your program. It is better

Just wanted to mention this to you. I have used ERS98 for years....literally, it was one of the first utilities I purchased when I first became "technologically-aware". And I have to say, it has, UNQUESTIONABLY, saved my system more times and with greater ease than all other similar "backup" utilities I've tried (and I've tried MANY), COMBINED. I install lots and lots of software, and make many changes to my system, and there have been countless times when I desperately needed to return to a point before I had made such changes, and ERS has absolutely never failed me.
Last week, I purchased a new computer and am now learning the intricacies of Windows 2000. One of my greatest concerns was that I would no longer have an ERS to work on my behalf. So I was really pleased when I went to your site and saw that there is indeed an ERS product for Windows 2000, and I immediately purchased it.
I will breathe much easier as I learn this new system.

later a program did something so I couldn't even boot to Safe mode. Since,
as advised, I was doing an ERS backup before every install this was the

I had to pay for that "education." :-) "Me" backup is a joke. This is no
"ego pumping," but the fact is more can be done with ERS than the stupid
clone of "Go Back" the" Windows Me" has. Partly that is due to the fact that
(a) you can't easily delete old backups, and (b) you have little control
over what gets backed up and restored. Most of the problems come from
installs changing things. While a program of mine will tell me what has
changed and reinstall a file if necessary, it is just as easy to go use ERS.
The only thing is one has to be very diligent in watching for file changes
and backing up. Know anybody that wants an "Me" CD cheap?

I have used ERS for a couple of years now and it is a great program. A
couple of years ago I became very unhappy with Win 98 stability problems and
decided to try Linux. Linux is supposed to be more stable. I tried several
Linux builds, making a dual boot system. One time my boot records became
trashed. Twice Windows hung at a black screen and would not boot. I ran ERS
restore each time and was able to get back into Windows, no problem. Those
three successful restores more than paid for the cost of the program.

conditions using ERS98.
So, even I don't use Windows ME, I decided to give you the prize.
Even Microsoft says that Windows ME can check and repair damaged system
files, I don't trust it, because they write many files with newer version
number but with older dates.

A testimonial. I recently got a nasty virus into my machine and
destroyed
all executable files. I used an external CD to get rid of the virus
infected files and then I restored all necessary executables by using ERS.
Computer ran just like before the virus infection. ERS saved my "butt".

ERS98 8.53.1 for XXXX
and liked it so much that I asked for a registered copy which you gave
me. I have been meaning to write for a while but haven't found the time
so am making the time now. I just would like to say that after all this
time, I have only registered one other program through the reviews which
I still do for XXXX and that I still run ERS on my computer and had to
in fact run it the other day to restore my system files. All the reviews
I do of course put lots of files in and out with installations and
uninstallations etc. and some can really screw things up, so It is good
to be able to run ERS and put my system back to its original state,
increase performance again and keep it stable.

By the way, about a week after I purchased the earlier version of your
program, I was doing some routine disk cleanup maintenance and must have
inadvertently deleted a critical windows file. When I tried to boot my
computer the next morning, it wouldn't boot and gave me a series of fatal
error messages concerning a missing file. I was able to start ERS98 from the
MSDOS prompt and followed the recovery instructions. The problem was fixed
within a minute and I successfully rebooted and have been operating OK ever
since.

Around two weeks ago your program really saved me hours of work after I had
installed another program which went on to overwrite certain files which
Windows 98 didn't like. I couldn't even get into safe mode to put things
right. However all I had to do was type the good old ERS and put things back

I had to drop you a note to thank you again for ERS98. It just saved my

ERS98 saved me once again.
I had installed w98 and then w98SE 2 weeks ago,did the w98 update,made
new recovery disks, and put them away.
Today i guess I was running too many things at once on the internet and
the resources got very low.
The computer finally gave me the blue screen. I could not reboot or

I rebooted but only got as far as C:\
Power Off made no difference.
Tried the w98Se startup disk and typed SYS C:, but that did not help.
Then put in my new ers98 rescue diskette and rebooted.
I always wonder what to restore, but decided that DAY1(latest date)

That`s about the 5th or 6th time ERS has saved me. The first time was

ERS has saved me a number of times now.
The last time was a few weeks ago, when a rogue install of downloaded
software corrupted some key Win98 OS files caused me to get a BLUE SCREEN
statement immediately on boot up, stating that files were missing, and
informing me that the "system is halted"!
A quick reboot in command mode - a recovery from Day1 and everthing was
fine. Needless to say, I dumped the offending software after a few similar
retry attempts!
Far more efficient recovery than that offered by Windows or certain other
market leading Utility/Antivirus programs.

I corrupted my registery in Win 95 and was about to format the hard drive
when I did a directory looking in hopes that
I might find a back up copy of the regisrty dat files when I came across
the ERS directory. I FORGOT I HAD EVEN DOWNLOADED IT AND I ONLY RAN IT ONCE
IN JULY OF 1999 BUT HERE IN JAN OF 2000 IT BROUGHT MY SYSTEM BACK LIKE A
CHAMP.

I have ever used. I am glad that I came across it when searching for
recovery systems. I have already used the shareware version to recover my
system when it crashed trying to run the Norton Zip Rescue Set. It only
took one minute to recover the system even though it was the first time I
had used it and didn't really know what I was doing. In two previous
crashes - before ERS98 - (trying to install Linux, and adding a second hard
drive), I had to spend many hours re-installing all the software from
CD-ROMs and downloads.

Last Thursday I installed a new
13 Gig HDD in my Pentium II 300 PC. I formatted the Hard Disk, did a clean
installation of Windows 98, then installed Microsoft Office 2000, and my
other programmes. That was last Thursday. For three days I have been going
round in circles, as I would continually get error messages regarding the
Registry and that I would need to restore the Registry files from back up. I
would then push OK and let the operating system do it itself. The it would
come up with an error for Internet Explorer and lock the system up. The only
way out of this was to reinstall Windows 98.
I did this several times, including refornmatting the drive several times.
All to no avail. After restoring all my programmes and data, sooner or later
it would happen again.
Then I noticed your shareware programme on the APC Magazine cover disc. I
installed it, ran it, and it fixed my problem - easily and very quickly. I
have had the same problem occur a couple of times, but again I ran your
programme and it restored my system.
I have now followed your advice and disabled the Microsoft Autoscan and
Regscan vicios circle problem, and now the problems aren't happening
anymore.

For a long time now, however, I have been
saved a lot of grief by having a program on my
computer that I think more PC users should know about. I have no economic interest in
plugging this, and I only know the author through his amazingly quick and thorough support
responses via email.
The program is called Emergency Recovery System (ERS98) and it automatically backs up
every vital file on your PC in a number of user-prescribed ways. I have learned that by
following
the advice of the author in using this program, plus regular recommended PC maintenance
(like Scandisk and Defrag), most of my Windows 95/98 problems are almost instantly
solvable.
I hardly ever have a problem anymore (I use Win98 and IE 5.0), but whenever I do, I
restore things
with ERS98 and I'm back in business.
The program costs only $25 and you get free upgrades. It can be downloaded in a crippled
version at http://backtec.com. Author Ted Fatalleh has a number of freeware apps there, too.
This app won't eliminate the great need for 24hrsupporthelp, but it could save some people
from having to reformat their HDs.

Just a note of thanks...I finally got to try ERS out ! I
was using a
3Com modem update wizard to update my Winmodem recently and at the end I was
told to turn off my computer, then turn it back on to redetect my modem.

I reserve yours for last and my system was restored in 5 minutes using restore
for winfiles.

crashed. Contrary to MS's assertions, the upgrade did not simply recover.
Instead, I could not even boot to Win95. ERS98 saved the day. I simply

Usually it is after installing a new program. Today I installed the demo
version of the Helix "Nuts & Bolts" program. Dont know why but my P166
with 32Mb RAM, computer crashed each time in the final stages of booting
up. ERS again saved the day for me when I restored my backed up files on
Day 1. I have de-installed "Nuts & Bolts" and everything is OK again.

I am a big downloader. Often I'll download

I installed Norton-3 and the computer crashed.
When it booted again,
Windoze95 said the c: drive was full and couldn't boot properly, even
though there was 150 MB free on the C: drive. It booted in 16 colors and
refused to acknowledge the video card -- Matrox Mystique.
I had only backed up Win95 one day with your programme. Your instructions,
both on-screen and written were excellent. I copied my "day-one" back from
the DOS mode and rebooted. Win95 rebooted perfectly. Total time -- less
than 5 minutes.

Just to add my thanks to many others for your great program. I messed up Outlook Express when I experimented with Netscape Communicator instead of IE 5. Somehow after uninstalling Netscape as I
preferred IE5 I found that each time I clicked on Send/R in O/Express it disconnected me from the internet. I tried uninstalling O/Express and re installing from a download from Microsoft to resolve this problem but to no avail.
Having recently purchased ERS98 and done all the backups plus installing your latest upgrade 9.04 I thought I would try a restore of the full Win and Win/Sys files.
Approx 5- 10 minutes later I was back connected to the net again with a whole list of backlogged emails arriving in my Outlook Express inbox WITHOUT DISCONNECTING ME FROM THE NET.
What a Relief!!!!! as without ERS98 I think my next step would have been to completely uninstall IE5 & Outlook Express and sweep the registry with Norton registry sweep and then download and restore both programs again.

I have been using ERS 98 for almost a year now. A few days ago I
installed a new print program when I restarted after the install my screen
resolution was changed my desktop was in black and white and windows said
its was rebuilding my video driver.
I followed the instructions to restore that I had printed out from the ERS
help section and in a few minutes everything was restored to my normal
settings. Thanks for such great and easy to use program. Also many thanks

BTW, I mentioned to you about my new PC
... well I had reinstalled MOST of my apps except ERS98 when I ran into a
huge WIN 98 Reboot problem, after attempting to repartition my 20 GB hard
Disk using Partition Magic 4.0. I'll spare you the details (its too painful
to repeat), but I must have spent 6-8 hrs troubleshooting the problem with
the help of at least 3 different Micron tech support persons. I don't mean
to knock them, but because they weren't familiar with PM 4.0
(and their "Per Customer Help-Time" is so limited) they told me to "simply"
reformat my hard drive & reinstall WIN98!!! I can't believe just how much
time & energy I would have saved, if I could have restored the my OS had I
reinstalled ERS98 first !! It certainly has "saved" me in the past. Thanks
for listening.

Just a quick note to thank you again.
One more time, you software saved me from having to reinstall everything on
my hard disk.
I was suddenly stuck at lunch time with messages such as "COMDLG32.DLL
linked to missing export SHELL32.DLL:712" and other niceties. I rebooted my
machine without improvement, tried safe mode with no improvement. I then
restored the previous day settings from ERS, to no avail this time. Then I
recalled the other functions of ERS, and restored the full WINSYS2 backup
(which I had luckily done 10 days before) ... and all was back in order
like a charm.
